Burschetta ai Gamberoni

Burschetta ai Gamberoni

Bruschetta has always been one of my favourite Italian starters. I decided instead of going for the classic bruschetta I would try the Bruschetta ai Gamberoni which comes with King Prawns. The bread was perfectly done, which is extremely important with this dish. It was crunchy but still soft on the inside. The prawns were obviously very fresh and marinated in a spectacular garlic/olive oil sauce. There was a lot of flavour oozing from this dish, although there could have been slightly less salt, other then that it was delicious.

Calamaretti fritti ai sette sapori

Calamaretti fritti ai sette sapori

Another one of my favourite dishes is Calamari! Growing up on an island, and only eating fresh calamari means my standards are high. I was attracted to this dish by it’s fusion of seven herbs, and I was not let down. It was very well seasoned, and definitely fresh.  It was cooked perfectly, not too greasy and extremely tender. In addition to this, it was served with a garlic tartare that gave it that extra kick.

Fettuccine alla crema di zuca

Fettuccine alla crema di zuca

After much contemplation, I decided to go for the Fettucine alla crema di zuca as it sounded unique containing sage, chilli, roasted butternut squash and truffle cream. I was worried that it would be heavy and overwhelming as truffle sauces can be quite rich. On the contrary, the sauce was creamy, full of flavour and not overwhelming. The butternut squash gave it a great crunchy texture and worked well with the cream sauce. The pasta was clearly very fresh and cooked perfectly “Al dente”.

Linguine al profumo di mare

The second pasta dish was a tomato based sauce with a mix of fresh seafood. The tomato sauce was simple yet perfect and full of taste, allowing the seafood flavours to take over. Seafood was very fresh, delicious.

Profitterol al limoncello

Profitterol al limoncello

For dessert I thought I would go for the Porfitterol al limoncello as it was filled with two of my favourite ingredients.. white chocolate and Italian custard. The actual Profiterole was crunchy on the outside with a fluffy creamy inner making it quite light. It was drizzled with a delicious lemon sauce that made it different to any other profiterole I have ever tasted.

Sotto Sotto cheescake

Sotto Sotto cheesecake

The Sotto Sotto cheesecake was a winner! A classic New York style creamy cheesecake that topped off a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

A great Italian restaurant situated in an old cellar, giving it a rustic and romantic feel. The food was great quality, highly recommended!
